Christmas is all about sharing and spreading the love so we decided to hold a video contest where our community can share their joy of sharing this Christmas and stand a chance to win a free lunch buffet for two.

How to enter the contest?

Make a video on ‘joy of sharing’ and upload it to your Facebook profile. Now copy this video URL and make a public post on BaazKart’s Facebook page using #baazkartjoyofsharing

You can also upload the video to your YouTube channel and submit that URL in the ‘joy of sharing’ tab on BaazKart’s Facebook page.

ANJEER BARFI

This is an authentic indian sweet dish where we mix dried figs, nuts, and dates chopped together, consequently mixed in water. After which we add raisins, cardamom and cinnamon powder to the mixture creating a distinctive flavour.

KALAKAND

Kalakand is a famous sweet dish of india, where we mix condensed milk with paneer and cardamom powder, adding required amount of sugar and rose water, garnishing the dish with cashews, saffron and pista.

GULAB JAMUN

one of the most famous sweets made and consumed in india, in the preparation of which we mix milk powder with maida and ghee, while adding some salt clubbed with baking soda and yogurt, finally garnished with almond slices.

BESAN KE LADOO

Preparing this dish calls for gram flour or what indians colloquially refer to as besan, mixed with ghee and powdered sugar, further adding onto the composition with mortar pestle and resins.

KAJOO BARFI

The word saree as described in sanskrit translates to a “strip of cloth”, which is 4-8 metres long, and 0.6-1.2 metres wide, and is typically wrapped around the waist, with one end draped around the shoulder, leaving the midriff bare.

In everyday language a short kurta or a kurta worn by women is referred to as a kurti, . However, traditionally the term kurti is a synonym for waist coats and blouses. In a kurti the midriff is covered, distinctly distinguishing it from the choli.

Dhoti is a traditional men’s garment, worn in the indian subcontinent. Dhoti is basically a piece of unstitched cloth, mostly as long as 4.5 metres, and wrapped around the wearer’s waist and legs, finally knotted into the waist.

Sherwani is a long coat-like garment worn in the Indian subcontinent, very similar to a British frock coat. It was traditionally associated with the Indian subcontinent. It is worn over a kurta with the combination of either churidar, dhoti, pyjama, or a salwar as the lower-body clothing.

It specifically refers to a headdress that is worn by men and needs to be manually tied.

Waistcoat is a sleeveless upper-body garment. Which is usually worn over a shirt and a necktie, below the coat as a part of men’s formal wear. It is also sported as the third piece in the traditional three-piece male business suit.

Famous Myths about Diwali

1) The Return of Lord Rama.

Diwali is a festival of lights, which is primarily celebrated to welcome the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya, with his beloved wife Sita and his brother Lakshman. After a long fought battle with the evil King Ravana, who was a ten headed monster. For this occasion Ayodhya was decorated with lights and diyas, lighting each and every street in Ayodhya.

2) Lord Krishna killing Narakasura.

Narakasura was the king of filth, covered in dirt at all times; he grew greedy and arrogant with increasing power; wherefore he used to abduct beautiful girls and force them to live with him, he was a threat not only to his subjects but also to the Gods themselves. Lord Krishna Killed the demon king Narakasura and freed over sixteen thousand women, after which he took a bath in scented oils.

3) Emergence of Goddess Lakshmi

Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity, emerging from a feud between the gods and demons, who were tangled in a race to obtain the nectar of immortality. Consulting Lord Vishnu in this pursuit, they could successfully churn the nectar of immortality from goddess Lakshmi, who chose Vishnu to be her companion, consequently Lord Vishnu carried goddess Lakshmi to the heavens.

4) The Cutting of Harvest 

Diwali is a significant occasion in the rural parts of India, because cutting the harvest for them rural denizens is an important event, who are an agricultural community, and whose daily means of sustenance is heavily dependent on the harvest they reap.

5) Lord Krishna and Mountain Goverdhan

Lord Krishna convinced the people of Vrindavan to focus on farming and maintaining their livestock than making pointless sacrifices to Indra for a natural phenomenon, like the rain. Furious with the people of Vrindavan, Indra the god of heavens, decided to wreak havoc upon the people of Vrindavan, by submerging their city under water on account of heavy rains and thunderstorms. It is said that during this time, little Krishna helped them villagers by lifting the mountain goverdhan as an umbrella for the people to save them from such calamitous rains.

6) Return of the Pandavas 

The return of Pandavas from their exile, after they lost everything they owned in a game of dice to the Kauravas, was celebrated by the people of Hastinapur by lighting their streets and houses with vibrant luminosity.
